Gymnastics Class

For children aged over 5 years old

School years gym classes

Our School Years Gymnastics sessions are designed for children aged 5 years and above, and aim to develop more confident, co-ordinated, and competent gymnasts.

Gymnastics skills are taught in a safe, fun, and friendly environment. Our coaches are supportive, and focus is placed on building confidence and learning new skills using specialist apparatus.

School Years Gymnastics classes are for boys and girls of primary school age (5-11 Years old) regardless of ability and aptitude. Classes last for one hour and are structured with a focus on fundamentals, fun and friendships! Developing all fundamental skills such as balance, strength, flexibility and coordination, gymnasts will perform on floor, vault, beam, and bars to develop gymnastic specific skills.

After a warm up, gymnasts are divided into small groups where they will work with their coach to enjoy a safe and challenging gymnastics session across 2 apparatus. Our programme is structured on a 10 week rota to ensure that gymnastics perform equally across all apparatus.

Within various weeks of our programme, Gymnasts are encouraged to work towards completing award schemes and earning their badges in line with the British Gymnastics Proficiency Awards.

Class times

Classes run every evening and weekend please see our timetable for class times.

Moving to school years classes from Junior Gym can be a little scary. Our 4-5pm classes are for Reception age children - 6 years old.

This helps with the transition between classes and allows some children to move to school years classes early so we can ensure classes are still fun and challenging.

* Children attending schools years gym classes before they turn 5 years old when in reception class at school is subject to the individual demonstrating enough physical and mental maturity.

English on the Move introduces innovative methods and helps your pupils achieve national standards in English.

The impact of English on the Move is constantly measured and shared via an online platform and regular reports. This gives you invaluable data to justify your spend and provide key evidence to Ofsted.

Funding for Balance-Ability

Schools can utilize their Sport Premium Funding with Balance-Ability meeting the following targets:

  • Embedding physical activity into the school day through active travel to and from school, active break times and active lessons and teaching.

  • Develop or add to the PE, Physical Activity and Sport that your school provides.

  • Providing targeted activities or support to involve and encourage the least active children.

Hassle free evidence and impact for teachers

RB Gym and Sport Educators ensure that Balance-ability is a progressive 'outcome based' learning programme where children are assessed at regular points throughout the course in order to monitor and measure progress. Schools will receive assessment data to help them account for physical literacy within children and a short impact report to help evidence the programme to Ofsted and use in your Sport Premium Evidence and Impact report.
