Freestyle Gymnastics Classes

A Fast, Creative and Rapidly Growing Discipline

Freestyle gymnastics, also known as Free G, blends traditional gymnastics with parkour, free running and martial arts-style kicks for a fast, creative and endlessly fun way to train. At Earls Gymnastics Academy in Oldbury and Halesowen, gymnasts aged 8 and up learn these skills in a safe, structured environment under experienced coaches, whatever their starting ability.

What Is Freestyle Gymnastics?

Freestyle Gymnastics is the term British Gymnastics uses to describe this newer, fast-growing discipline. It brings together elements of parkour, free running and urban gymnastics, linked together with kicking combinations borrowed from martial arts. Rather than following a fixed routine, gymnasts are encouraged to explore movement with freedom, individuality and creativity, building their own sequences and tricks as their confidence grows.

Why Freestyle Gymnastics Stands Out

Unlike a standard gymnastics class, freestyle puts creativity front and centre. Gymnasts are encouraged to develop their own style of movement across obstacles, vaults and floor space, rather than sticking to a set routine. It's an excellent way to build speed, strength, flexibility and spatial awareness while keeping training genuinely exciting for older children and teenagers.

What to Expect in a Class

Our Freestyle Gymnastics classes take place in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where gymnasts can learn new skills, practise existing ones, and progress at their own pace. Every session is led by a qualified coach who adapts activities to suit the group's mix of abilities, so a complete beginner and a more experienced gymnast can train side by side and both come away having improved.
